| SCOPE: |
Athalye Consulting Engineers was responsible for the for the PS&E preparation for the bridge replacement of the existing 4 span structure with a single wider bridge to accommodate eight lanes of traffic and a closed median. Included in this effort was the preparation of the Type Selection Report. Unique aspects include design of temporary bridge for stage construction, traffic handling and relocation and addition of numerous non-standard architectural features consistent with Caltrans safety and functional requirements. Site specific seismic criteria conforming to Caltrans SDC Version 1.1 was utilized in completing this fast track project. The CISS pile shafts were designed to account for down drag forces associated with liquefaction. The project was completed under a stringent accelerated time schedule.
